Speed bump. Just what I was thinking. Frustrating, but even the best teams will drop eggs every now and then, especially against division rivals.
Pleasantly surprised at the lack of Fleury hate on this article. Good, sober right up, RW |

"Shame on the OHL for allowing that nonsense to be a part of their product."
Shame on hockey in general. We basically punish skill players for being good, as we make them deal with all the additional crap that they have to take from less skilled players every night.
I have no problem with what McDavid did, he's 17 and was probably tired of taking all the abuse that he gets. But like you, I am surprised that fighting is still allowed in the CHL between children, with all we know about brain trauma now. The CHL has cracked down on headshots in recent years better than the NHL, but because of the Neanderthal element in their ranks, they don't think twice about 16 year olds getting punched in the head by 20 year olds.
That will change... lawsuits will happen... Fans will female dog and moan and say that they will never watch again, and then they will keep watching... female doging and moaning... |

It seems you as well as others never understood the point I was making. The argument was about the value of the goaltender position with Fleury being a Penguins-centric example.

I agree about fighting. Connor McDavid should have just taken the stick to the midsection and let the other dude punch him in the face and taken it like a real hockey player is supposed to, by standing idle while another player takes physical liberties on you. That's what real hockey players do. |

It's a culture thing. Canadians in general like to be known as tough. I'm not against fighting at all. Maybe in the juniors, yes. |

You're not supposed to just offer it up... You are supposed to just keep jabbing, needling, insulting, trash talking, and yelling at posters. It's most effective when targeting someone who is one of the most respected posters on here. If they don't fight then, they are to be labeled as soft going forward. |

Yeah, that's what i thought you'd say. That's why you guys have goons like Steve Downie and Dan Carcillo on your team. Flyers are always gonna be a team full of goons. |

I'm at the point where I could take it or leave it in the NHL as well. I hate staged fights, but will still sit up and watch when like a star player fights or something in a big game, but honestly if there was no fighting, I don't think I'd miss it one bit. |

I don't think I'd miss it much, but at the same time, it seems like more and more players are making reckless/dangerous hits more now that they did back before all of the instigator/3rd man in penalties were established. If they eliminate fighting altogether, it may get worse. |

agreed, I don't think it matters much. I guess it's exciting sometimes, but I don't think it has an impact on the entertainment quality. I don't really buy the whole "no fighting means more cheap shots" thing either.
Much ado about nothing, in short. |

Yes, but that Philly/Pittsburgh Game 3 from 2012 was pretty damn exciting because of all of the E.C. stuff. An isolated anomaly for sure, but it was entertaining. |

Did not like Dupuis back with Sid and Kunitz. Love Duper, but it is pretty clear he is destined to be a great third liner for the remainder of his career. It would give him more manageable minutes and allow him to play in a role where he would be most effective.
Let Beau join that top six. I know MJ wanted to ease him into the game, but he should have had more shifts up there.
Trade time! Scuds, you gotta go brother. Too many times are you given the puck with time and space and generate nothing.
Also, McDavid doesn't have to prove anything. He is the best hockey player under the age of 18. Take a beating and let someone else's hands, preferably that don't produce, get smashed up. |
